Bhubaneswar: The seventh edition of Odisha's leading quiz competition, Mettle Meet 2025, is set to reach new heights with the inclusion of top national institutions for the first time. Scheduled for August 9 and 10, this year's event is expected to deliver an unparalleled level of competition and national attention.
Four of India's most esteemed institutions— IIT Kharagpur, IIM Calcutta, NIT Raipur, and XLRI Jamshedpur—will compete against Odisha's finest quizzers, making this edition the most competitive yet. In anticipation of the event, we spoke with participants from these national institutions to learn about their preparations and expectations.
Sivadharshan S, a second-year MBA student at IIM Calcutta, expressed his enthusiasm for participating in Mettle Meet 2025. He stated, “We are thrilled to join Mettle Meet for the first time. Having participated in various quiz competitions nationwide, I can confidently say that the Mettle Meet quiz is on par with the best national events. I was impressed by the quality of previous editions I watched on YouTube.” Regarding the challenge of competing against Odisha's top institutions, he added, “While we have significant experience in national-level quizzing, competing with Odisha's best will be a formidable challenge. Our strategy is to maintain confidence, collaborate as a team, and prioritize speed and consensus in our answers.”
Srishti Soni, a Business Management student specializing in Marketing at XLRI Jamshedpur, shared her thoughts: “I learned about Mettle Meet from a friend who had participated before and praised the event highly. It has an excellent reputation, especially for the quality of its quiz questions.” She noted, “With top institutions from various fields participating, we anticipate our toughest competition will come from engineering colleges, which traditionally excel in quizzing. Our strategy will be to leverage each team member's strengths and work cohesively.”
Prabhat Sharma, a B Tech student in Electronics and Communication Engineering at NIT Raipur, expressed his eagerness for the event. “I’m really excited to be part of this event and to meet Quizmaster Ajay Poonia — someone I’ve admired since childhood,” he shared. He added, “Mettle Meet exemplifies how the culture of quizzing can be promoted. It unites top institutions from across the country and fosters healthy competition. The questions are cleverly crafted and truly test your knowledge and reflexes.” Discussing his team's strategy, Sharma said, “We aim to stay sharp and be the quickest on the buzzer.”

Pranjal Jharkharia, a B Sc student in Exploration Geophysics at IIT Kharagpur, remarked, “Based on last year’s Mettle Meet, it’s a highly competitive quiz event with an electric atmosphere. Every participant comes well-prepared, making it both challenging and exciting to compete against top institutions from across the state.” With participation from elite institutions, a renowned quizmaster leading the event, and a growing reputation for excellence, Mettle Meet 2025 is shaping up to be a fiercely contested and intellectually stimulating event that continues to elevate Odisha's status in the national quizzing arena.
